Prepping for the Victoria’s Secret Swim Special: Candice Swanepoel and Behati Prinsloo on the Secret to Good Beach Hair
On February 26, Victoria’s Secret will air its first-ever Swim
Special—filmed on location in Puerto Rico—at 10:00 p.m. on CBS. And with
plenty of sun-glazed ocean time, their sand-strewn adventures are bound
to leave us wondering: How exactly do the Angels get that effortlessly
tousled beach hair? It’s easier than you think. Take it from Behati Prinsloo,
who goes by the age-old tip of not washing and conditioning every day.
“I find that it strips the hair of its natural oils—which is pretty
instrumental in achieving sexy beach hair,” says Prinsloo.” I use a dry
shampoo and then spritz with a salt water mixture before giving it a
good scrunch.” As for a comb or brush? Prinsloo goes the natural route.
“I run my hands through my hair instead,” she says. For Candice Swanepoel,
a still more pared-back routine works best. “Swimming in the ocean
gives me a better [texture] than any products ever could,” says the
South African–born beauty. The takeaway tip? When it comes to beach
hair, just add saltwater. It’s the supermodel way.
